Declaring that he is "sold on Denmark and its people" and comparing its democratic nature favorably to the social structure and "snobbery" of England; describing the abundance of sailing vessels and lunch with a new friend who is "the best marine painter in Denmark"; discussing plans with Villiers and mentioning that they had been invited to lunch by Mrs. Conrad but he couldn't attend; mentioning that Mrs. Conrad will re-christen the ship [the Joseph Conrad] when it returns to Gravesend; elaborating on his and Villiers' ship investments; describing lunch with "two charming Danish ladies" and his painter friend Kjellen-Brandt, which involved a discussion at length about art.

Henry Watson Kent served as the first professional librarian of the Grolier Club from 1903 to 1906 and originated its classification scheme. He continued to serve the Club during the following decades through its Library, Publications and House committees, and its Council. From 1906 until his retirement in 1940 Kent was Secretary of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
